You may be surprised to find out that the fire inspector is not the final authority on a fire issue with your facilities and misinterpretation of the fire code by the inspector is possible. In fact, it may be worth your while to check with an outside consultant, such as our expert fire code consultants, as the price for consultation may be far less than the equipment that the inspector orders you to install.

So, what happens if you find that the fire inspector has ordered you to do something that does not match perfectly with the code? Well, you are allowed to file an appeal. The cost is to file $100 and is refunded if you win your case. The hearing is held locally and both parties have a chance to present their case. We have seen as many as 60% of filed appeals win.
